Visual concerts are a blending of slide-projected images with music – the images and sound interact and reinforce one another to create a whole greater than the two parts. Music can be recorded – choose a favorite piece of music and John will pick images to go with it – or live – music (classicas, jazz, whatever) is improvised to match the images. These unique experiences were born when clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and piano player/composer Bill Douglass played in John's living room in Berkeley and John chose slides to match the music. John performs Visual Concerts regularly at Strings, a private music club in Berkeley. Check the Strings monthly calendar. You can also see some of John's Visual Concerts on YouTube. |
